A note from the Principal
Greetings Gust Community,
Greetings Gust Community, the Fall season has brought colder temperatures and students dressed in coats and hats. Please help your child keep track of these additional items by writing their names in their hats, mittens, coats, and boots. The Auditorium will be open each morning for students and parents to gather and wait for their teachers, and all students will be brought into the auditorium on mornings that are wet or freezing. Breakfast is served at 8:15 a.m. each morning and students are asked to enter the cafeteria by 8:30 in order to have time to eat breakfast prior to the start of school. Finally, the routines established before and after school at Gust are dependent on community cooperation. In regards to dropping off students in the morning – please do not stop on Yale; adhering to crosswalk procedures – please be good models for students and cross only when the walk sign is illuminated; attendance and tardiness – please stress the importance of learning and make sure that your students arrive to school on time ( students need to arrive by 8:40 for the 8:45 start time).
The October Parent/Teacher conferences were a great success! Thank you parents for taking the time to visit Gust and meet with your child's teacher. The month of November brings additional opportunities for parents to visit the school, such as the ECE Pajama Reading Night on November 3 at 5:00. Gust's annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner is from 10:30 - 1:00 on November 18, 2009. Additionally, The Family Reading Night offers a fun evening for 3rd through 5th grade students and families on November 19, 2009 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you during the month of November! The community involvement represented at these events is a key to the success of students and the foundation of the learning community established at Gust.
Sincerely,
Jamie Roybal, Principal
