Dear Gust Families,

It is our priority to keep you informed of incidents related to student safety. This letter is to let you know that, at around 9:05 a.m. today, there was police activity in the neighborhood that resulted in a secure perimeter status for our school.

All students and staff are safe.

A secure perimeter means we lock the exterior doors of our school and bring students and staff inside the building. Business inside the building continues as normal but we all must stay inside the building. The secure perimeter was lifted about 20 minutes later once law enforcement deemed the area to be safe. This is standard protocol any time there is police activity in the area of our school.

We would like to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students are our number one priority. As always, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.

We know that this type of situation can be traumatic for some students and families. Our mental health supports are available to process with any community members needing additional support.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Marucheau

Principal
