Students posing in class

Dear Prospective Families,

Gust Elementary understands that choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent.

As you consider your school options for the 2025-26 school year, we encourage you to visit the gem of southwest Denver, Gust Elementary.

We are thrilled to welcome prospective families to Gust Elementary School! We conduct tours every Tuesday from 8:30-9:00. If that time does not work for you, please reach out to Gust’s main office line at 720-424-6560 to schedule an alternative time.

We believe that all students succeed through an intentionally designed academic experience. Communication, strong whole-child experiences, rigorous academic instruction, and a clear focus on equity set the foundation for all Gust students to be successful in the classroom and beyond.

We are proud of so many aspects of the Gust experience, and one particular item of note is our focus on excursions. All Gust students go on at least four excursions a year. These excursions include destinations both near and far. Our youngest learners experience cultural trips, such as the Children’s Museum and performances at The Arvada Center. Our older learners enjoy signature field trips at each grade level, which have included a visit to the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center in Colorado Springs, rock climbing in Jefferson County, and an overnight trip to Balarat. Gust understands that education needs to be applied outside the classroom, so we prioritize excursions for all Gust students.

Another aspect that makes Gust unique is that we are the only Gifted and Talented magnet school in southwest Denver. Students with a qualifying cognitive test score in the 95th percentile or above are designated as magnet-eligible and receive unique programming from our gifted and talented coordinator.

Gust also has ELA-S classrooms at each grade level for native Spanish speakers. In the past, our ELA-S students, have secured some of the highest test scores in the state of Colorado.

We know you have many great options in DPS, and we encourage you to visit Gust to learn more about all we have to offer.

Thank you for your time,

Kathleen Marucheau, Principal
Jill Ellis, Assistant Principal

We look forward to meeting you! Please contact our main office at 720-424-6560 with any questions.
